This could be an issue for certain uses of the Description field.
Honestly, I think that label is the cause.
GnuCash also has a Notes and a Memo field (one for each split) to
provide 'description' of a transaction.
I've always used what is currently known as Description as the
Payee/Payor. That significantly simplifies the autofill/complete issue
to the point it isn't one.
But of course, you're free to use that field for anything you want, the
consequences of that however may not be to your liking, as you have noted.
There's nothing stopping you from downgrading slightly, but if you need
to go all the way to a previous major version, there might be some
compatibility issues. Perhaps let us know which exact version you were
using prior to now, and the current version you are using, and maybe
someone here who knows more can advise about those possible pitfalls.

Adrien

I enjoyed the autocomplete function in GnuCash prior to 2025. Autocomplete
would show just one transaction, the last transaction in that account, and
that's it. Now, it finds every transaction in that account that could
possibly be related to what I am typing. It's very overwhelming, and
sometimes Autocomplete goes with one of it's suggestions instead of what
I'm typing.
My question is can I go back to having autocomplete just show one
transaction and not a whole bunch?
