Yes, it's possible to create a fund account in GC just like a bank
account (without referencing a symbol like a stock account) and specify
transactions with a commodity account manually. I guess the
unbalanced-account issue is probably caused by either
1. mistyped numbers (since doing the transactions manually) --
Solution: Check the numbers
2. and/or not including the transaction fees/taxes/commissions imposed
on the trades. Please take a look into your brokerage statements or
transaction history to find out the transaction fees associated with
the fund trades, instead of just looking at the position balances of
your accounts. -- Solution: Make the fee as an independent
transaction or as a split in your sell transaction (please see the
online GC guide for more details).
Cheers!

1. I don't think you are meant to do that, e.g. the Stock Assistant won't
allow it.
2. Having said that I think there might be a bug.
2a. do you have Trading a/c's on or off?
2b. did you use Transfer to create the tx or do them by hand? Or perhaps
a mix and match since you got different results initially?
Trading accounts is ON.
I did all of those transactions by hand.
I did not use Transfer or Stock Assistant.
