Hey all,
I am running version 5.17, flathub 5.17 on linux mint.
It is perplexing to me that I balance each account every month and it all
seems great. A month goes by and when I go to do it again, it is always my
fear that the starting balance will be off. Why ever for would this be, if
I reconciled to 0.00 the previous month? What a horrible question. So
let's try a better one...
I try to investigate by doing the normal things; see if all the
transactions were entered... I missed one and added it. But I was off $12
and change, and the transaction that didn't make the cut (it was on the
date cusp and was just missed) was for $11 and change. Now I am off
$1.44. So I went to reports/reconciliation and the tab it brought up was
empty. next I looked around in the help and did not find anything. Next I
started this email and while composing, I tried pulling up
reports/reconciliation to accurately recount my steps. The tab came up
empty again, and the computer froze. I had to alt+sysRq "REISUB" to jolt
it out of the freeze; I don't know what else to do (which is maybe a
different question). Meanwhile, I don't know how to figure out why I'm
$1.44 off because I don't know how to verify that my previous
reconciliation is all correct.
I will add, however, that until this point I had been MARVELING how much I
LOVE gnucash (and I still do) and how EASY it has been to reconcie and how
little time it takes me. Wonderful when things just go right! but with
all good things, they don't always go that well. The good news is, they go
that well often enough that I'm SO happy I switched to Linux and to
GNUCASH. I hope it's a glitch and that it can be figured out!
Thanks in advance; let me know if I am missing some info.
Julie
