I did not have any USB devices plugged in, but it did give me the idea to
disable USB in the BIOS, which fixed the problem!  I can now boot and the
install process went smoothly.  I will have to play around to see if
different BIOS options will let me boot with USB enabled.  I am planning
on moving to a USB KVM in the near future.
