So I upgraded to the newest packages (via apt-clone, brilliant command!) in elatte-testing and enabled USB in the BIOS, and it worked just fine. I tested the newest install CD (1.0.1-b85-test2) and that failed to boot with USB enabled. So, something different between the CD and the installed version. Other than that, smooth sailing so far.
