"Tefllam", are used in Mackrel curry so that one does not get upset stomach. Mackrels at times cause upset stomach. I have also heard that boiling teflam in water with whole pepper, Jeera and turmeric also cures upset stomach. I got this info, from my maim back home in Goa.
