Nasci, I guess you have to decide what exactly it is that you are railing against. Are you railing against casteism, Hinduism, our ancient Indian heritage or the Hindutva ideology of some fundamentalist Hindu zealots of today? Please let me know which one of these things you consider to be evil. > >Reforming Indian culture does not mean "equating >with fundamentalism or colonialism or the bad things >in other cultures"; that is what u seem to > Are you trying to quote me here or are you making up your own quotes? All I wanted to say was that you are equating our ancient Indian culture with the modern fundamentalist ideology of Hindutva. > >Only after the "Reformation of this (H) Indu culture >will Indian society as a whole be rid of the problems >facing Indian society. > What do you mean by reformation of the Hindu culture? Would getting rid of casteism suffice? What other problems are unique to Hindu culture? Do you know that India has a rich tradition of reformers? > >Why R U comparing with Australia and USA and Europe. >Just look around u at India's Asian neighbors. I can also tell you what stupidities they have inherited. If I remember correctly, I had done this once before in response to such fictitious assertions from you. I hope you remember that there are at least three kinds of stupidities present among our neighbors - theocracy, autocracy and communism. > >Come on now Santosh, admit that your culture is >medieval and not in tune with modern times! > My present culture and that of most Indians I know is very much in tune with modern times. We want to eliminate casteism, racism, superstition, belief in miracles, religious chauvinism, fundamentalism, revisionism, pseudospiritualism, regionalism, xenophobia, fatalism, apocalypticism and millenarism. For the Indian subcontinent there were no dark ages or medieval period comparable to those in Europe. The ancient Indian culture of my ancestors enjoyed its Golden Age during the European medieval period. It can certainly not be equated with the extremist Hindutva ideology of a fanatical segment of the present Indian society.
