Don't know where the gate is but the heraldry is of Dom Manuel Segundo, Rei de Portugal. A photograph of him in full regalia and his court of arms hung over the dining table in my father's house in Assagao. I was told it was put there by my grandfather Hipolito Crisologo Francisco, although I did not learn why or how it came by.
