Dear JC, hockey was "alive" in Goa, though technically it was run from Bombay, now Mumbai. Aniceto Fernandes was secretary of both men's and women's hockey. I think men's president was Dayanand Bandodkar, at least for a time, and the women's president was his daughter Sashikala Kakodkar.
Later, Prabhakar Sinaki was president of men's. Govind Vagolo, of MPT, was the asst. secretary, I believe, as he was also secretary or executive member of Goa Football Association. I think Cyril D'Cunha, ex-Navhind Times journalist, was the captain of the first Goa team that took part in the Nationals. Herculano Dourada, the ex-MLA, was chosen president of the "rival" women's hockey players as these players felt that hockey was getting its due in Goa. Dourado, also a hockey player, failed miserably, as my talks with some women players those days revealed. There was one men's hockey goalkeeper who was very much involved. Maybe someone on the list can enlightened us more. Eugene Correia
