Nascy, It is natural for us to have our own set of prejudices and biases but we should not allow these to influence the manner in which we perceive and interpret things.
If we want to judge people, it should be on the basis of objective evidence and not on the basis of mere speculations, innuendo and assumptions. When there is not even a shred of evidence against Sonal Shah, implicating her in the crimes committed by the VHP on the basis of her mere association with its affiliated body would be a travesty of truth and justice. For the records, I am in no way associated with any political outfit or religious Association but I do have many friends in the RSS and the BJP, many of whom happen to be as liberal and secular as anybody else that you and I would know. Just as there are liberals, moderates and extremists in the Church and other outfits, there are liberals, moderates and extremists in the RSS too. Among these, there are many who are genuine secular social workers and activists. As a matter of fact, a close friend of mine with RSS affiliation has donated his blood on more than 50 occasions. Therefore, to paint every single member of the RSS by the same brush and to blame them in the complexities of crimes in which they are in no way involved would be extremely unfair and disappointing to say the least. A "Guilt- by- Association" is therefore no guilt at all. The people who do know Sonal Shah have testified her bonafides as being secular and progressive. Santosh has placed here a lot of first- hand accounts commending Sonal Shah and her work while the evidence against her is flimsy if not non-existing. Just as everybody affiliated to the Church is not a Saint, not everybody affiliated to the RSS or the Sangh Parivar is a criminal. The sooner you, Fredrick, Marshall, and the others come to terms with that and let go of your own biases, you would be a lot closer to the truth. Cheers Sandeep > "Sandeep, > In view of Marshalls explanation with quotes, Will U now please > apologise to Marshall and to goanetters for talking nonsense. I think > U have exposed yourself as to where your sensibilities and > affiliations lie. > > Cheers! > Nascy caldeira > Melbourne,Down Under." >
