At the end of the day, I am still left wondering how people can believe "the lone voice of reason, truth and peace on Goanet" can buy into this they're-going-to-take-over-the-world-by-having-more-babies logic. More interesting is the manner to shift the debate when obviously cornered on facts. I'm outta here; have made my point! Mario responds: Harworking propagandists have no reason to appreciate the lone voice of reason, truth and peace on Goanet. The only rational point was made in Fred's mind. The REAL point he was trying to make was some unsubstantiated propaganda against "rightwingers" when he said: "It's interesting to see the post-Cold War search for a New Enemy (Islam is unfortunately the prime target) bring Rightwingers and Islamophobes of all kinds onto the same side." This is a tired old left wing canard because the facts show that right wingers are the ones who are giving their lives to defend the vast majority of innocent Muslims under attack by Islamic radicals, whereas it is the left wingers that have consistently provided strenuous moral support for the small number of radical Muslims that are the "New Enemy" of other Muslims and the rest of us. Thus, it is left wingers who are the REAL Islamophobes. The problem is that the many sane Muslims, who could rise up and crush the small number of Islamic radicals if they wished, have failed to do so under some arcane but deeply ingrained principle called "Ummah". They leave it up to mostly Christians from mostly the US to intervene on their behalf. The principle of Ummah evolved when Muslims needed to stay united when their religion was under attack. I am hoping that as the radicals continue to over-reach, sane Muslims will begin to realize that Ummah makes no sense when they are the primary targets and victims of the Islamic radicals. We saw this in action when the Sunnis turned against Al Qaeda in Iraq after realizing that they were being targeted far more than the liberating forces in order to foment sectarian violence. The larger the Muslim population the larger the pool from which Osama Bin Laden and radical Islam can recruit, even if the percentage of radicals to total Muslims stays the same. People forget that the radicals use selective excerpts from the Quran to make their point, which is why they are called "Islamic" radicals. The Qu'ran has several very aggressive passages against non-Muslims, offset then by other passages which the radicals conveniently ignore. Muslim culture also has many exclusive practices which prevent them from blending in with others in even countries that are diverse in nature, like the UK, USA, Australia and Canada. Here are some examples of the creeping influence of radical Islam in the west. UK: In Old Blighty, parts of Shariah Law are being applied and there is a steady clamor that Shariah be applied to all. Radical Muslim clerics routinely preach hatred for non-Muslims from their mosques, and Britain seems unable to control them. US: In some states Muslim women have demanded to use pictures with their faces hidden on their drivers licenses.
