Have you noticed that half the Americans, who complain about socialism in
America, themselves receive major benefits from the US government?

Mario responds:

The comment above was shown to be a gross distortion in:

http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2009-August/181502.html

The post also showed an analysis that the government run Medicare health system
being proposed by Gilbert for the entire USA is failing, so I'm not sure
whether Gilbert is trying to sabotage the US or what.

Besides, getting a benefit from the government is not socialism unless the
government is involved in managing and running the system.

Glibert wrote:

If some of the protesting Americans were honest enough to say that they have a
problem with President Obama's black heritage, that may be more forthright and
understandable, though not logical.

Mario responds:

Here we see Gilbert playing what we call the race-card, which is reprehensible
but typical of the far left wingers.  He has built a straw man of racism out of
whole cloth without a single example of where Obama's race has been made an
issue in his socialism or in this discussion.

Gilbert wrote:

Certainly people have the right to question the motives of people and the
government with whom they don't agree. But I am not sure they have the right to
insult to our (American) collective wisdom - ani magir the Goan collective
wisdom.

Mario observes:

Besides building yet another straw man, that someone is insulting America's
collective wisdom - as represented by Gilbert I presume - what does it say
about his credibility that he has been unable to provide a single example where
anyone's collective wisdom has been insulted?

Is a contrary opinion an "insult"? Or is it insulting to have to deal with the
kind of false and misleading information we are seeing from Gilbert, with snide
editorial comments to boot?

Canada has a different approach to health care. Every year, your doctor calls
you in for an annual check up.

Mario responds:

That may work great when you are healthy. But what happens when you really get
sick? Here is one report of what you may face:

Those who have read my documented exposes of the numerous "thaaps" by some
Goanetters about Canadian health care will find Mervyn's gushing about the
wonders of the Canadian health care system highly amusing.

Mervyn wrote:

More importantly, medical services are here are free.

Mario responds:

We have a saying in America, "You get what you pay for?" Here's what they get
for "free" in Canada, and some Canadians don't even seem to know it.
