Since North America is mentioned here, I have this to say: Though Canadian weather does not permit usage of Motor bikes throughout the year, when it summer time, It is a pleasure to view varieties stylish well polished Motorbikes and their burly riders fully attired with leather jackets and helmets, riding in large groups on long hauls to some holiday destination (not Hells angels, mind you, just armature riders, mostly friends and acquaintances, bike ride is their hobby). Of late there have arrived electric scooters, which are lightweight and do not even require registration nor license (of course helmet is a must), costing a couple of grands of CAD.$.
So also are some bikers (cyclists) with colourful skin hugging costume, helnets,riding in designated lanes, a long long line of them, that too early in the morninbg!! As for public conveyance, the buses have luxurious clean seats, some buses are electric, and the drivers are very courteous, they lower the buses to street level to allow mothers with prams to enter the bus as well as mobile/wheel chair riders to get in, the driver ensures they are properly secured (as required) before proceeding. Furthermore, there is a place in front of the bus (outside) where a cyclist can secure one's bicycle without inconveniencing other passengers. The front seats are exclusively for seniors, disabled and any other who occupies them will move back if any senior enters the bus. The driver makes sure passengers have safely alighted before closing the front and rear door and only then proceed and greets most passengers when they enter or exit. This is true especially in Brampton a suburb of Ontario. (no screeming ticketing conductors). MD. Re: [Goanet] Motorbikes, two-wheelers...Fred, I'm not too sure how you can say that pubic transportation in Goa is bad. I can pretty much travel to any location in Goa without having to rely on personal transportation. If you want bad public transportation, come to America! On the other hand, public transportation may not necessarily be an effective model here given the sprawling nature of its cities and the availability of cheap land. Marlon
