If you want bad public transportation, come to America!

Mario observes:

Public facilities, by definition, are government-run facilities for people who
cannot afford the convenience of having their own facilities.  Even low income
Americans can afford several cars per household and so prefer the convenience
and independance of using their own vehicles, and most American cities have
evolved accordingly and are commercial locations are designed for people who
use private transportation.

In a very few large cities where parking space is at a huge premium, public
transportation is more convenient for more people because it is time consuming
and costly to negotiate the rush-hour traffic jams and find parking at a
comparable cost.  In such cities, the public transportation is as decent and
convenient as anywhere else where people have no choice.

After hearing about how nice Canada is, could we have some way
of (i) shifting the entire Goan population to Canada or (ii) trying to
get solutions that work in Goa itself?

Mario observes:

Fred, I can confirm that most of Canada is far better than most European
countries, and the resources they lack, which have already been discussed in
other posts, are readily available across their southern border. Furthermore,
they are very tolerant, so any Goan can shift to Canada any time they want to.
Half of Jamaica has already done so:-))

Re. solutions for Goa, you are one of those who has strenuously argued against
the things that work in Canada, i.e. most politicians are either honest and
effective, or are replaced at the next elections.
