As a staunch right-wing saffronite, I would like tips from boy 'academic' Jason Keith Fernandes on how to "oppose." But he better have something better than his last flop attempt to oppose the showing of my documentary "The Rape of Goa" at the Taleigao villagers' meeting in June 2007. Let's see - "evolving cultural manifestations of the Goan Catholic." As far as the rest of India is concerned, the Goan Catholic is a drunk and their women are sluts. The boy 'academic' must have been too busy academicking to notice. On a more serious note - Goans cannot speak from both sides of their mouth. If you want to hold a music festival, rent the Kala Academy theatre and have your show. You want your "rights" to have this outdoor orgy? Well, I want my rights too, to not be disturbed by your loud noise and my life intruded upon by the hordes. Goans complain that their beaches have become trash cans. So the remedy is to hold yet another orgy that advertises to the whole world that yes, come to Goa and use it like a trash can? The message has to go out loud and clear: Goa is not your personal Las Vegas, not your personal brothel, not your personal trash can. Indians, take your sh*t elsewhere, to Kankavalli, or to Bekal. Just get the hell out of Goa. Regards, r ps: The guys who are supporting this rubbish 'festival' of noise - I won't be surprised if they have a financial stake in it.
