Rajan P. Parrikar: No no no. This will be sweet music to Digu's ears. He will simply label projects as "INFRASTRUCTURE." End of story. (Digu should be frog-marched and put behind bars. If the CBI had any teeth, that is what would have happened.)
venantius j pinto: Rajan is VERY accurate. Look at the point he is making as applied semantics. In the case of the Digus it has been finessed over the centuries--thanks to the worst among some of the intellectual savants doing the worst, clan affiliations certianly help, and with various concessions that come with hierarchies. Its a mind that is polished but brittle--the sight of them can hurt you. In the case of the other politicians it is a different opportunism as in the case of the Laxmikant Parsekar, RP pointed out in an earlier post (on fields). Its similar in the case of the Christian politicians. And think of the power that comes from knowing that there is no price on their life. Imagine, like in other states, there were more players in the mix. Its a win-win situation. No kidnappings of family, no nothing. Just walk over people--eat, eat, eat. But what is amazing is to see the courage of the Sarpanchs and panchas. I mean wither these guys are really powerful or we do not have the stomach (I know this among people who are dear to me, and my own too). The change many hope and yearn for can also come from within their families and communities, but that requires individuals who value those outside of themselves. That is what the Enlightenment brought to pass among other things--to regard and love the neighbor along with oneself and ones family. ++++++++++++ venantius j pinto From: "Rajan P.
