Thanks, Mervyn.
My mother allowed herself to become a guinea pig of one such piece of
ill informed advice, and cooked her food in coconut oil (without our
knowledge). Within a couple of years, if not less, she was diagnosed
with severe arterial blocks, for which she had to undergo bypass
surgery. She slipped into a coma within hours of the surgery (no fault
of the coconut oil) here, returned to full consciousness after a month,
and a couple of months later, was gone for good.
I'm not medically equipped to say if it was entirely the coconut oil
that did her in, but yes, I do think it had a big role to play.
Please be careful, folks.
Reena
Folks,
Here, in an easy to read chart, is the saturated fat that is present
in different types of oils. Note that oil made from chicken fat contains
only a third of the fat compared to a similar amount of coconut oil.
Even lard, or pork fat, ranks much lower on the scale of saturated fats
when compared to coconut oil.
To those here who are still undecided whether or not coconut oil is or
is not good for health, I have one suggestion: Cook all your food in
coconut oil and become a guinea pig for mankind. When you do have
your heart attack, come visit me and tell me about the rest of the story.
