I find nothing wrong with the terms "uncle" and "aunty". In Konkani (and other Indian languages), the word "uncle" does not mean dad's/mum's brother and aunt doesn't equal dad's/mum's sister. Instead, it means, middle-aged to elderly (Westernised) male or female respectively.
