Can I make a stab at this?

I would recommend your "Show Available Times" as an event, that can
then be changed as appointments are made.
The reason would be this:  Let's say you have "Available Times" from
9am - Noon.  But what's to distinguish that from, say, 10pm when you
are going to be watching playing Nintendo Wii with the kids?

Your "Available Time" is indeed an event and should thus be treated as
such.  You are indeed blocking out time to indicate a specific
purpose...you are available for a specific thing.  You are NOT
available to play Nintendo Wii...you are available to be made busy.

Perhaps that's a way to look at it.
