Having the same problems as mentioned (iCal refreshes for a while, then errors out with authentication errors), and just want to make sure google knows it. It started promptly when google announced CalDAV support officially. Had been working fine since my upgrade to Leopard.
The only issue previously was that sometimes it couldn't find the calendar. If I quit iCal, it would magically find the correct google calendar again.
