Barry, Thank you for your continued support. Picasa 3 appears to be trying to log me in but fails on login though I know I'm entering my UID and PWD correctly.
I use byzanz-record. Fast and simple though watch your record times... OGV and OGG (recorded with recordmydesktop or istanbul) have stopped playing reliably with VLC and Totem so now I am using Byzanz a lot more.
