This is pretty sad. I will also be affected. I developed 
http://mdgmaps.appspot.com using the Flash api + Google App Engine and I 
don't think I'd have been ableto do it using Javascript. I was also planning 
to dig a little deeper into the api for future projects but will have to 
reconsider now.
 Between this and the change in the Google App Engine TOS I think its time I 
seriously started migrating to Microsoft Products.
 At least one can be be sure to bet on them being stable for a long time 
instead of the bait and switch that Google
seems to be employing these days -- see the whole Superpoke debacle. I will 
also have to take a serious look at Windows Phone Mango
as an alternative to Android. Google is doing all the things that made  devs 
switch from Microsoft in the first place but its seems like the
honeymoon is over. I guess its 'Welcome back to the darkside' for me.
