Well, I don't think it's an obscure request.
http://documents.google.com/support/spreadsheets/bin/answer.py?answer=91599 They could easily add something like; country.addShade(US, '#CCCCCC', '60%') and I'm sure it would be a resounding success. How would that make things clumsy for others? I'm not a lazy programmer and will figure it out in the meantime. Thanks!
