In theory and in actuality, if I am just hosting KML files, I am not using the Google Maps API . I don't need a map key to host KML files.
The benefit to Google is that the users would be leaving our site entirely and going to the Google Maps site. I just wonder if the good people at Google will be upset with this process. I would not like to see their benevolence turn to wrath.
