Who knows what Microsoft did to your computer when you removed IE7.  I
guess I suspect even more that there is something wrong with your
installations either of Windows or of IE6.

I suggest trying other computers.  You may need to reinstall those 2
again...
(although I always cringe when I hear about people reinstalling
Windows to fix problems...)
