Acknowledging Marcelo and John, I do feel that a degree of social moderation is needed, and the need is never-ending. There will always be people who are, in Larry Wall's phrase, ignorant, rude, or desperate. Social moderation requires some discipline -- otherwise we succumb too readily to our affliction of being helpful problem-solvers.
