Simply google "rental listings" or "apartments for rent", it gives you a list of real estate sites using google map api. The basic idea is: (1). get the geo info from a entry form. (2). store it in a database. (3). retrieve it by search input (4). display relevant listings on your map. The hard part is to filter out the useful entries and get rid of the junk and only display useful ones on the map. Also consider the duplicated entries from the users.
