That maybe true but not all programmer are great visual designers not to mention the time it takes to get it all looking great. All I am saying is the default look should be much more visually appealing. After all Google has spent a lot of time optimizing the javascript ouput so why not put some more time into a high quality polished visual look so that everyone benefits.
