Okay, I needed some sleep so I've only been on this for about an hour
today but I've made a little progress, still no connection. Also,
obviously this is not a gOS problem and more of a Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy
Heron) issue. Actually, in my opinion, I don't think it's even really
an Ubuntu problem but more of a the hardware manufactures
fault...that's just my opinion though. Plus, Linux is fairly new to me
as well so that's probably the main issue here...anyways...

I found that I was wrong about the following link not giving me enough
info (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=756260) So definitely
go and read that first. Anyone that hasn't checked that out first
should as that's what I am using as a guide for now.

I did finally install the ndiswrapper. I put in my gOS CD and
navigated to the /media/cdrom0/pool/main/n/ndiswrapper and installed
the "ndiswrapper-utils..." .deb package. That installed with no
problems (Windows users can just double-click on the .deb pagkage and
it'll install it for them or use the terminal if you want to).

Fortunately, I had my "Smart Wizard" CD for my Belkin network adapter
so I all i had to do is copy the drivers from the folder to a inf
folder, just like the guide tells you to (Step 3). I copied the
following files to the inf folder: BLKWGU.inf and BLKWGUXP.sys. I
installed the BLKWGU.inf driver (Step 5), it wouldn't install the
other file so I left it alone (maybe a mistake?).

I then followed Step 6 and typed in ndiswrapper -l but I got the
following: "blkwgu : invalid driver!" so that's not good. I went back
to Step 5 and ran the previous command and it tells me the driver is
installed so I am pretty sure that it's installed.

I wasn't sure what to do after I got the error message in Step 6 so I
went to the next few steps out of curiousity (maybe another mistake?).
The next 3 steps (7, 8 and 9) went well, which I thought was strange.
Step 9 (iwconfig) was especially interesting because it found the
following ESSID:"Belkin_N_Wireless_A86CEB", which is not my wireless
adpapter but the name of a wireless adapter that I am suppose to
connect to get an internet connection, actually there's more than one
router but I don't think that's really important.

Like I said, I already connected to this internet connection under
Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) so I know it's not the particular "network
set up" that's the problem, even though it is unusual. Regardless,
here is the output after using the iwconfig command.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/inf$ iwconfig

...This is where I am at the moment (like I said I've made SOME
progress). If anyone can put me in the right direction I'd appreciate
it. Also, once I do figure it out (and I have an internet connection
on my gOS machine) I will write step-by-step instructions on how to
get this particular wireless adapter to work. Then hopefully someone
with a lot more knowledge can generalize my steps and make it work for
all (or most) USB Wireless Adapters. Thanks again for the replies.
