If its installed, the package manager knows about it, and you should
be able to remove it using the command line (shell) apt-get command,
in a terminal or by using the GUI front-end to apt-get, Synaptic.
If synaptic isn't in the menu (it should be) use the "run command"
option to start it, or start a terminal session and run

sudo synaptic

Find the program you want to delete, and right click on the green box
before its name and choose "Mark for Removal", then click the "Apply"
button.

generally a program that is incompatible with your Linux distro will
NOT cause your complete system to become unstable as the package
manager ensures that other programs are not affected.
