Flash player requires additional license that must be accepted, hence
it can't be legally loaded by default.

Just fire up a command line and
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

That should take care of any codec problem you may be having.

Mint can preinstall cause they are restricted by US copyright law,
being based out of Ireland I believe.
