Success The new drive is working great and the install went thru fine. However
the first time I connected to the internet it immediately downloaded about 171
updates. I figured I should install them. It took about a half hour and
promptly crashed the machine. I've spent the best part of the evening messing
around with it to no avail and in the end re-inserted the Disc and re-installed
the OS. Happily it's not informed me that it wants to update anything again so
far. But how do I make sure that it won't automatically do an update in future?
This will be my girlfriends machine and I don't want her accepting an update
and crashing the machine again.
