OK, do you know the name of your network interface? It's usually
something like "wlan0" or somesuch. You should be able to get it by
poking around under the panel icon menu (or maybe even just hovering
over the icon)

Anyways, if you do, try this:

when you are connected to the network, open a terminal window and type:

sudo dhclient <your interface name>
