that was just to see if restarting networking fixed it (now we know the problem is on your end, not the router)
Here's the next step: next time you log in, before connecting to the network, type this command: ps aux | grep [d]hclient you shouldn't get anything back then connect to the network and run it again - you should get one extra line - copy that for later finally, when your connection borks, type that a third time. If i am right (there's always a first time) you will be back to no lines and what is happening is that your dhclient (the program that gets an IP address via dhcp) is dying on you. /t On Fri, Nov 28, 2008 at 7:03 PM, ed_giuliani <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > tried the second suggestion and got message > > *reconfiguring network interfaces [ok] > > is this supposed to keep the connection from dropping or is this a > command that i should use when it drops? thanks ed. > > On Nov 27, 2:20 pm, tanguyr <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> > any other suggestions would be welcome, thanks ed >> >> try: >> >> sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart >> >> see f it works, and then copy/paste the messages into a reply >> >> /t > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
