well, you could certainly take the LiveCD for a spin and see if that
works better for you. I don't know much about the different gOS
versions, i'm new here myself and i started with 3 right off the bat.
The thing about linux is that there are umpteen million distros and
versions out there and you'll pretty much have to fight with something
at some point on all of them. At one point you just have to make a
stand and beat one of them into submission on your hardware for your
usage. What i'm trying to say is that, for all you know, upgrading to
3 might fix your wireless at the cost of borking your sound (or
something else), but at least the LiveCD route lets you "try before
you buy"
