Hi Julian, Issues sorted...yeh kinda.
The AV scanning issue has been resolved by Computer Assoc support. We turned off the quarantine feature, apparently it has trouble coping with exchange or SQL. It is a fairly advanced feature that not many other products have anyway. IBA's original solution was to exclude the entire MSP folder from AV scanning !! Including the exe's. I still can't believe in this day and age someone not on drugs would even suggest that. The whole program still seems slow compared to Classic.(from several of the GP's and receptionists, not just me) Plexus services still gobbles up huge amounts of ram. ( a bit like S+N's fetch) Thinking of throwing another 2 gig at the server. Even if that costs $1K it is cheaper in the long run than having 10 GP's wasting time waiting for a silly app. IBA support are still stubborn, tried to suggest we use nortons AV because they use it. Even though I think its crap. Because it is. IBA support only begrudgingly reply to emails. Makes me feel like mail bombing them sometimes. That would at least give the an excuse for being so slack at replying. They are still suggesting that the issue with HIC online were caused by the CA AV deleting the relevant files. This despite the fact that Hic online support and I worked out the files were removed by the practix upgrade At another site. And there is nothing in the AV logs to say any files have been deleted at all. IBA Support still have their heads firmly in the sand. Pity. Such a contrast to say Totalcare or Shexie support. The Trainer from IBA was fantastic !! Went way out of her way to help. Even used her influence to help me get to the right people in support when I was getting desperate.. Can't recommend Rachel from IBA enough. As usual in the washup there was; not enough training for the doctors which slowed them down no end on go-live day, You can never have enough ram, Maybe I should have gone for the extra 5000RPM on the scsi-3 drives, (only installed 10,000rpm jobbies) Maybe I should have upgraded the raid card to an extra 128mb ram, (only installed 64mb) There should have been less patients, There should have been more coffee :) I'm really starting to hate conversions...and just yesterday a client asked me if I could upgrade 3 sites to MD3, Oh well I'm off on holiday tomorrow :) Andrew C > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of julian flint > Sent: Tuesday, 13 December 2005 10:05 PM > To: General Practice Computing Group Talk > Subject: Re: [GPCG_TALK] Plexus or PractiX services > > Hi Andrew, > How is your PractiX practice going?
