Actually though QOS is nice I dont believe people are finding it vital
to getting good VOIP going.

Within the building I bought a managed Gbit switch with VLAN and QOS
tagging, and the router/modem combo are also QOS enabled but it comes
down to whether the ISP is going to shift those packets faster too and I
dont think many are. Course, Im too dumb yet to implement all this
accurately...i havent had time to rtfm a zillion times...

FFrom a whirlpool thread the other day I recall reading that nodephone
and internode have implemented QOS (and the discussion was whether other
VOIP could tag and use this too)

Theres so little internet traffic on my connection and the pipe is now
so large that I dont really think QOS in that sense will be a drama...

with the upgrades my voip provider has done to fix their service this
week it does seem to be having some positive effects on my woes. But I
will still build the debian box im building with a uniporocessor kernel
in case the smp kernel in some fashion is giving me grief.
