We already comply 100% with the Security Awareness and Conformance Report
requirements for B4H
There is no reason that specialist could not achieve adequate Security and
IT protocols
We need guidance and incentives similar to our GP colleagues
I am sure we could reach the practice accreditation standards - with
allowance for specialists individual practices- eg ie do not perform
surgical procedures - no need for autoclave; and vaccination protocols
remains in the realms of your primary practice, etc

Could I suggest you all contact/email/write(??) to the B4H working Group and
recommend the B4H committee progresses this issue further At present there
is good uptake within the GP community- but 'we' specialists need to be
connected to you GPs- preferably with similar support
- both financial and IT installation and training

Cedric,

Every area is different. To some extent I'm sure it's a random thing.

Oliver may have more success, but I think some overall funding to
motivate everyone would help. How many GPs would be clinical computer
users without the 7 years of PIP incentives and the support from
Divisions, especially during 1999-2001?

A group of cardiologists in Western Sydney is setting up to send and
receive reports/referrals securely. In that case the shoe will be on the
other foot.

Similarly, Medical objects has been sponsored and initiated by the
gastroenterologists at Buderim. Argus, on the other hand. was initiated
by a consortium led by Top End Division and got some government money,
only they've forgotten why they. there are other examples.
