Democracy fails the moment people realise they can vote themselves
access to the fiscus.
In other words, we vote for the people who are most likely to spend us
to death.
Competence is of no concern to the Great Unwashed.
Witness the recent electoral debate in Qld, where all candidates were
falling over themselves with promises to spend, spend, spend.
Nobody promised to save a penny.

curent government is way too much an atavism of the dark oppressive
ages to serve the purpose that is required - namely to be an
