I finally dug through the menu and found the documents for the new IMIT
criteria and tiers and I interepret that as long as you use encryption or a
secure messaging system whenever electronically transferring data, you may
claim for Tier 1.  I do not interpret that you *must* be transmitting data
electronically.

The same as I used to advise with Tier 3 of the former criteria in that
receiving the Pathology results via a modem qualified for that payment, I
believe the reception of pathology results from the secure messaging system
of your provider should qualify you for the Tier 1 payment (data being
transferred electronically and securely); as well, should the Medicare
Australia data you are transferring electronically.

As you say though, it's up to the interpretation by MedAus, who wrote the
criteria.  Do they still have the PIP 'hotline' email address where you can
put forth your scenario and seek clarification; I always chose the email
rather than the phone hotline as, though it took longer, you then had the
reply in writing.
