The absence of secure tunneling in the Windows operating system is truly
bizarre and, like the lack of tabs in all but the most recent versions
of Internet Explorer, I cannot understand out why MS never bothered.

VPNs are cute but not what most people are really after
(http://www.jfitz.com/tips/ssh_for_windows.html). If you're intent on
running Windows only, the preferred solution these days is just to
install ssh under cygwin (http://www.networksimplicity.com/openssh/).
However, Michael uses linux so he should just hook his tunnel into his
e-smith firewall and attach to his Windows XP box from there using the
remote desktop protocol. This will allow local client printing which is
what he was after in the first place.

P.S. Michael, if you want a more detailed howto I can cobble one
together from the one on the old e-smith site.
