Using putty at a nursing home requires you to install putty on someone
else's machine.
Logmein only requires internet access and a web browser.

But the way you do it, my local printer at home is available for
printing. Where as described above, the local printer is not
available. (probably not as secure as your way also)
Horst's solution is neat although it entails putting in a few network
print servers.
Printing, sound and clipboard actions are carried in the rdp
back-channel. That won't bridge across your XP Pro server connection.
Stick with putty. It's a lot safer than logmein.
