Got it working using 'dosbox' - a dos emulator  (which works in mutiple
platforms).

DOS and DOS programs cannot cope with much memory, and probably spits the 
dummy at times on file systems > FAT16. May have problems with interrupt 
controller and timer (and Windows DOS sessions do not virtualize them 
properly).

I'd suggest trying a DOS emulator (eg the one that comes with most Linux 
distributions) and run the program in a virtualized DOS environment
