David,
you live and practice in a rural electorate which I assume has a
coalition sitting MP. Maybe its time to have a word in their shell-like
about their approach to E-health.
While you're at it, you might explain that Medicare has a rule about
secure messaging for referral purposes which depends on a silly
technology that no-one likes much, and you'd like to save more lives by
being able to send clinical information securely and electronically some
tme soon.
Its an election year. if all you guys did this, they might start to listen
