Probably too slow then, but OK for sharing your ADSL or cable Internet connection.

Back in 2000, when we were building, I ran cat5 through the house's frame before they put the gyprock up. The kids and I all access ADSL through this network. Never an issue.

I use a Linksys AG241 and a Skymaster 100mbit switch. I keep looking at those 8-port gigabit switches though.
