Yes, the backup is fully encrypted, Insight uses strong encryption using the BC cryto library which is open source. We do not use Microsoft library or cryto dll because is well documented that there are back doors to it that MS, NSA and another one I forget can take advantage of if they really wanted to.

Provided it is encrypted - do you do this Mario and to what extent? Also worth noting that the sort of redundancy Google has is within reach locally.

Virtualisation is going to add a whole new dimension to the practice of performing back ups and restores (not to mention uptimes).


I agree, consolidating our network onto Xen as well.
