Geoff,

I know what and where AHML is and have used it many times both when I was at
HCN and since I've been working on BP. What I was asking was - if vendors
are to be expected to obtain AHML compliance, where is the documentation of
an AHML compliant REF message that we can use to develop our messages prior
to beginning the test process.

My past experience leads me to believe that just complying with AS4700.x
standards does not guarantee automatic AHML acceptance, as the AS4700
standards are high level and lack detail in many areas.

Best Practice currently produces and imports REF messages, but I am
reluctant to pay for AHML compliance until I have some formal documentation
that outlines the message structure. Without this, it is trial and error -
I build a message and see if passes the test. If it doesn't, I change it
and hope that it will pass next time. This is a waste of my time.

I don't think that this is good enough for a proposed national accreditation
mechanism for clinical messaging and believe that if AHML are serious, they
should publish a formal specification for a REF message that vendors can
refer to when developing messaging components.

Frank

Hi Frank

There is a message testing centre at:

http://www.ahml.com.au/

This allows developers to test messages online through their "test engine".

>From the web site:
"Message testing is free and generated reports show three levels of possible
non-conformance, errors, warnings and alerts and thus provides detail as to
the exact nature of the non-conformance."

Geoff,

Do AHML have any published documentation that software vendors can work to
prior to seeking accreditation? If so, where can we access it?

Frank
