The decryption utility is handicapped in that it won't do decryption
incrementally - that is it does a full pass through the database every run
and takes at least a few hours to do so, making it pretty useless for
getting out the most recently entered data.

The other handicap in bypassing the MD GUI to directly access the data is
that one of the drug database fields is encrypted which means that you can
return the list of drugs being taken by a patient but not the form/strength,
so a typical returned dataset might look like this

ALLOPURINOL half mane

ASTRIX 100 1 mane

ELOCON m.d.u.

LIPITOR 1 nocte

METOPROLOL TARTRATE 1 b.d.

NORVASC 1 mane

PANAMAX 2 q.i.d. p.r.n.

which of course is of limited use in referrals, health summaries etc...

It's a shame that HCN can't see any benefit in allowing their customers
access the full data, thus unleashing the creativity of people like yourself
to further advance general practice.

This is exactly how the information came across to our practice when we
changed from MD3 to another software vendor. HCN claimed that it had been
de-encrypted. What gives.......?
