Hi Bill

It seems rather silly that any software company would threaten suing you or
anyone else for stating the truth. Any company HCN, Medtech, Genie, Profile,
Zedmed or any other would be well advised to listen to legitimate concerns
about with holding encryption key from the doctor who owns the data or it
will by necessity become a political issue.

To the best of my knowledge only one of the above list is holding doctors
data to ransom. Having the best software product all our goal. We can not
accept any product which encrypts data with out giving us the encryption
keys. Our data bases are readily convertible to competing products. If
Encryption used with the primary reason to prevent customers from changing
it is not acceptable. Unless you have the encryption keys to your data then
it must be the main objective!

The transfer costs and ongoing revenue cost you have could in it self be
viewed as a restriction of trade/blackmail and should possibly give fears of
you seeking compensation not your fearing baseless threats. If you or
someone else with a similar costs issue caused by encryption choose to
pursue this I am sure there would be many of us who might happily contribute
a few dollars to help with costs

A Medtech director made an aggressive and in my opinion stupid threat about
web site postings by a very nice lady in NSW. The negative media coverage
was quite extensive. With NZ and Australian coverage of the threat and a
very quick retraction. I did not see the HCN comments. Perhaps you (or the
HCN person) might like to post the comments you mentioned so we can all see
their view of customer service or complaint resolutions?

Gosh will I be sued now??? Lol

Regards

James Bishop
