Imagine your fanging down the freeway or round a mountain road in a superbly
designed car, everything works intuitively, at your fingertips, the driving
experience is a joy, it just works.

Now imagine your doing the same in an old banger, with lots of knobs,
illogically placed, and not to hand, with a somewhat crummy gearbox.

Therein lies the difference.

When a workflow is really understood by the designer - everything flows for
the user, everything is integrated.

Sure, Profile has its faults (not the least of which has been poor company
support and difficulty to configure), but amongst all the efforts out there
it stands out head and shoulders above the competition.

The sad thing in Australia is that Aussie Docs for some reason, in their
collective ignorance defend the utility of what is the crappiest program on
the market - MDW. It's interesting - when I talk to doctors by themselves
they complain bitterly about their software, when in groups they defend it
en-mass - I've often wondered about this but suspect it is because they need
to prove to the next guy they are 'fully computerised and paperless'.

A program like profile could be used to run the whole of Newcastle. Medtech
(which I suffer when I work at John Hunter Hospital nights) is really
appalling.

Hope this helps, remember it is as always IMHO.

Richard
